L’Academy Preschool at Kensington Berkeley offers affordable toddler day care as well as preschool for two years old to kindergarten age children.

Our ultimate goal is to develop each child mindfully with love and compassion through a language-rich curriculum! Come and see our classrooms, meet the site staff and get all of your questions answered. Children are welcome!

If a holiday falls on a Saturday or Sunday, the holiday will be observed the Friday before or the Monday after. Please refer to the school calendar for specific closure dates. Note that tuition will be due in full every month irrespective of school closures or holidays.

Meet our Staff

Regional Director: Rachel Hendrix

Ms. Rachel is a traveler!  She has lived in Germany, Alaska, Arizona, North Carolina- until finally landing in California.  It was in California where she earned her Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from University of the Pacific.  After graduating from college, she began her professional career working in a preschool.  Immediately she fell in love with early childhood education.  Rachel has a very deep passion for creating a home away from home for the children and building a strong partnership with the entire family. She believes that each child, given the right tools, can succeed in whatever future endeavors they wish to follow.  In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her two cats, two sons and husband.  She is also an avid gardener, reader and crafter.

Spanish Teacher : Tatiana

Ms. Tatiana was born in El Salvador. Her very first job after arriving in the US was working at a family childcare 12 years ago.  She has been working with children ranging from 6 weeks to 4 years ever since.  Ms. Tatiana completed her child development studies at City College of San Francisco. Ms. Tatiana seizes every opportunities to teach children to help each other and be kind and respectful, through playing and exploring.

Teacher : Lisa

Ms. Lisa was born in Taiwan. Her major was law during her college years before moving to the bay area. As an assistant of legal personnel, Ms. Lisa was engaged in research-related work and audit-related work in the medical center. After moving to the United States in 2019, Ms. Lisa has the chance to explore her new passion in teaching. She received her certification in Early Childhood Education in 2020 and has been teaching children from age 2 and up in a dual language immersion environment for almost 3 years.
