Meet our Staff

Director: Berni Cruz

Ms. Berni Cruz is committed to what she does and goes through each day with a positive outlook. Working with children and creating memorable experiences with them is something she's always wanted to do. She received her teaching credentials from Foothill College and has been in the education field for over 7 years with a background in administration. She started as a preschool teacher, became passionate about what she does, and decided to take on a new role so she can make a difference in children's lives. She cannot imagine a life without working with children as they always brighten her day. Ms. Berni grew up in Newark, California and is currently residing in Fremont. She enjoys cycling, singing, watching movies, and trying all kinds of food. She believes that a child's imagination should never be limited. Her goal is to make this school a place where a child can be anything they want to be. Ms. Berni loves being a part of the L'Academy family.

Teacher : Sanny Chen

Ms. Sanny is from China. She can speak Mandarin and Cantonese fluently. She immigrated to San Francisco city since 2016. She has been studying in the Early Childhood Education field for many years. And she obtained her ECE units at City College of San Francisco. She is excited to join the L’ Academy family to develop her early childhood education career. Ms. Sanny is passionate about early childhood education career. She believes that teachers are children's friends. In an equal relationship, children feel psychologically safe and relaxed, so that they can learn and grow in a free, respectful and equal environment.

In her free time,Ms. Sanny will do some of her favorite and interesting things, such as reading, singing, dancing, listening to music, and hiking. She believes that it is the greatest happiness in life to have a healthy body, do what you like to doin a happy state of mind, and realize your own value safely.

Teacher : Ying

Ms.Ying is fluent in Cantonese, Mandarin, and English. She holds degrees inPsychology and Education from UC Santa Cruz and is passionate about early childhood education. She appreciates the importance of learning languages in a bilingual environment, giving children the opportunity to acquire knowledge in a bilingual way. Ms. Ying enjoys singing, cycling, and playing games with the children.

In addition to her experience, since she has led young children outdoors, she enjoys using natural materials to allow children to complete their nature projects. In this way, children get more exposure to the outdoors and natural beauty that is important to their development.

Ms. Ying believes that children's ability is unimaginable. As a teacher, she ensures that children can learn, play and grow in safe, comfortable, and fun classrooms. Ms. Ying is delighted to be a part of the L'Academy team and looks forward to meeting all the children and their families!

Teacher : Ashley

Ms. Ashley has been working with children for over 5 years. She graduated from Menlo Atherton in 2021 and is continuing her studies in early childhood education.

She is so excited to be working with L’Academy to help children thrive and learn. Ms. Ashley is fluent in both Spanish and English. She. has worked with children of all age groups. As a teacher, Ms. Ashley believes that every child learns in different ways and that learning is limitless if you get creative. Her goal is to make the children laugh and smile through every experience. Ms. Ashley loves working with children every step of the way.

Growing up in Menlo Park, Ms. Ashley enjoys bike rides, hanging out with friends and family, watching her favorite TV shows, and traveling.

Ms. Ashley is happy to be a part of theL’Academy team and looks forward to getting to know all the children and their families!

Teacher Alese

Ms. Alese has been working with children for over two years and has a passion for helping children learn and grow. She has experience teaching all age groups, from 0 to 5 years old. At the University of San Francisco, Ms. Alese has obtained one semester majoring in psychology and has accomplished earning her early childhood education qualifications. She will continue to study psychology to pursue her goal in becoming a child psychologist. As a teacher, Ms. Alese believes in building strong and positive relationships with young children. Each day she teaches, she allows them to grow and develop in the best way possible. Ms. Alese likes to create a safe space for children as it benefits them to be themselves as all children learn differently.

Outside her love of teaching, she enjoys being outdoors, hanging out with friends and family, yoga, traveling, and exercise. Ms. Alese is excited to be a part of the L’Academy center and getting to know all of the children, staff, and family members.

Teacher Alejandra

Ms. Alejandra has been working with children for over 4 years. She graduated from Sequoia Union High School and has obtained her early childhood education credentials from Newton. Since then, she has worked with preschool to elementary school-age children. Fluent in both Spanish and English, she believes students can learn more than one language starting at a young age. Ms. Alejandra became a teacher so she can help children achieve what they want because anything is possible. When a child doubts themselves, she makes sure to guide them into believing there’s always an open door to anything in life. She doesn't want any child to have a negative mindset and to say they can't.

Although she was born in Mexico Michoacán, in a small little town called La Mira, Ms. Alejandra grew up in Redwood City. Some of her favorite things to do are to spend time with family and friends, go out on hikes, get some sun at the beach, go to the gym, and do all kinds of outdoor activities.

Ms. Alejandra is happy to be a part of the L’Academy team and is excited to see what L’Academy has for her. Each day she looks forward to helping kids develop for their future.

Teacher Mary

Ms Mary has been working with young children for more than thirty years. In 2003 she earned an A.S. in Early Childhood Education from Cabrillo College in Aptos, CA. In her twenties, she lived and worked in Tucson, AZ as a Montessori teacher. While living in Tucson AZ, she also completed a course in Montessori education. Ms Mary looks forward to growing socially and academically with L'Academy families and children.

Ms Mary enjoys swimming daily, taking her dogs on night-time walks and hanging out with her family. She also hikes in the redwoods and walks at the beach. Her other hobbies are reading, gardening and taking care of her pet cat named Sampson. For family time, I enjoy spending time with her three adult children and four
grandchildren, having weekly dinner with her parents.

Teacher Divina

Ms. Divina is from Redwood City and graduated from Sequoia High School. Since then she has been pursuing her education in Early Child Development classes. Ms. Divina has been working with young children for over 2 years. Not only does she appreciate her time working with children and helping them learn, but she is also a fluent Spanish and English speaker.

On Ms. Divina's free time, she really enjoys painting, and being around friends and family. She also makes time to go on hikes and take walks on the beach.

Ms. Divina is kind, patient, and understanding which is why she believes working with young children is her passion. She is always enthusiastic to do hands-on activities with the kids. Ms. Divina is very grateful to be a part of L’Academy and is looking forward for what is ahead.

Teacher Michelle

Ms. Michelle was born and raised in the Bay Area. She graduated from Menlo Atherton High School and took a few courses as a nurse and also started working with children between ages 4 months to 7 years old and has loved it ever since. She’s always believed that our children are the future and in order to make that happen Ms. Michelle sets the example towards the right direction for our little ones.

During her free time, she enjoys a nice hike, great food, traveling, and family time. Ms Michelle is very proud to be working as a team at L’Academy preschool to continue her mission with helping our children succeed in every step of the way towards their future.


Teacher Brenda

Ms. Brenda graduated from Sequoia High School in 2019 and is in the process of starting her child development classes meanwhile she has been working with kids for 4 years. She comes from a family that enjoys working with kids. Her sister owns a home daycare in the city of East Palo Alto and her mom and brother work with kids from ages 5-12 years. On her free time, she likes to spend time with her friends and family. She also enjoys time with her son and devotes her time to teach him and make him grow as a person by letting him express himself.

Ms. Brenda has worked with kids from 4 months to 5 years. She is a fluent bilingual Spanish speaker, she is sweet, patient, and understanding. She provides kids with skills they need to grow and be amazing, independent children. Ms. Brenda wants to offer a safe and fun nurturing environment with daily routines and activities to help children bloom. She believes that great communication with parents and teachers is the best way of helping children bloom.
